I can't watch him. His mouth, eyes and facial expressions remind me of the Deep Space 9 shape shifter. He creeps me out! -

CAH closing down in upstate NY
by oppostate inyet another circuit assembly hall is going to be sold off!.
they've been reducing the amount of congregations assigned to meet there and using the times when it isn't in use to make repairs.
elders have now been informed that they are selling off the property and buildings and that circuits would be assigned to attend other sites, twice as far, three or four hours away, like montreal.

Thanks, Oppostate! That's their CAH. My in-laws are nearly 90 years old and travel too far for their assemblies already. I can't imagine that they will be able to travel an even greater distance. -

I knew the plaintiff personally. I knew him to be a kind and sincere family man and elder. He was under great emotional stress dealing with his work situation while trying to support his family and be an elder.
If anyone's motives are to be questioned, it would be his attorney. He is an elder as well. He told me he used to be a Bethel commuter for legal in Brooklyn. He got out of that obligation by sending his associate in his place. His name is widely spread in the circuit, so I was referred to him regarding a legal matter. When I didn't like his tactics, he exaggerated his time and expenses exorbitantly and refused to return my retainer.
Also, he manages to stay an elder even though his daughter is studying to be a pediatrician and his son openly plans to attend law school. These facts have been documented in local newspapers. As always, position and privilege go hand in hand in the organization.
I looked this man straight in the face and told him he wasn't the man he pretended to be. That was before I woke up to TTAT.

Has anybody been guilted/emotionally blackmailed into attending the 2015 Memorial?
by Bucholz inhello everybody, i was wondering if anyone has been guilted or emotionally blackmailed into attending the memorial this year.
something along the lines of "if you loved your family you would at least attend the memorial".
i myself haven't attended in 5 years.

I wasn't invited last year and likely won't be invited this year. My neighbor told me that the last time the JWs were in our neighborhood they didn't go to my door. I'm good with that! I wouldn't go if they paid me buckets o' money!
Now here's a Full Moon Party for ya:

Did anyone notice that they referenced Shepherd the Flock of God?
More of Jehovah's Witnesses Statement to ABC News Regarding This Report:
As you are aware, it would be inappropriate for us to comment on cases currently in litigation. However, in addition to the statement we previously provided, please allow us to make the following points.
We abhor the sexual abuse of children, and we do not protect any perpetrator of such repugnant acts from the consequences of his gross sin and crime. – Romans 12:9.
Our current and long-standing policy is clearly stated in the publication “Shepherd the Flock of God”—1 Peter 5:2, in which elders are provided the following direction:
“Child abuse is a crime. Never suggest to anyone that they should not report an allegation of child abuse to the police or other authorities. If you are asked, make it clear that whether to report the matter to the authorities or not is a personal decision for each individual to make and that there are no congregation sanctions for either decision. Elders will not criticize anyone who reports such an allegation to the authorities. If the victim wishes to make a report, it is his or her absolute right to do so.”—“Shepherd the Flock of God”—1 Peter 5:2, chap. 12, pp. 131-132, par. 19.
Seeking legal advice is a vital element of handling sensitive matters responsibly. Thus, for decades our elders have been instructed to contact our Legal Department whenever they learn of an allegation of child abuse. We do this, not to hide the crime and the sin, but rather to ensure that our elders strictly comply with child-abuse reporting laws.
By means of our Bible-based publications, our religious services, and our website jw.org., Jehovah’s Witnesses have also consistently warned congregation members and the public of the need to protect their children from the horrific crime of child sexual abuse. We encourage anyone who wishes to understand our position to visit our website jw.org., and search the term “child abuse.”

The Insight Meditation Society in Barre, MA USA teaches secular Buddhism. Its roots are in Theraveda Buddhism, but the teachers at IMS focus on Vipassana (insight) and Metta (loving kindness) meditation practices and do not identify with any particular Buddhist lineage.
Secular Western Buddhist Vipassana teachings are offered freely at www.dharmaseed.org
Jack Kornfield is an IMS meditation teacher. For those interested in Buddhist psychology, his book entitled, The Wise Heart, A guide to the Universal Teachings of Buddhist Psychology is a must read.

Can your friend play the stress/anxiety/depression card? That's been working for me for nearly four years. I stalled the first three attempts to meet with my two-elder JW hit squad. They just showed up at my door at random times when the weather was bad, so I stepped out on the porch to chat ever so briefly with them about their families, etc. I haven't heard from them since they dropped off my copy of the RNWT. The last time they were working the street I was home, and no one came to my door. Don't give them any ammunition. If you don't meet with them, the next move could be an "invitation" to a JC. Delay the meeting and don't talk about anything of substance. KISS.

Introducing myself
by maksutov inmy name is russ, i'm 40 years old, from the uk, and i left the jws nearly 5 years ago.
i've been a member of the yuku board throughout that time, so there are probably some on here who know me already.
there seems to be more activity over here at the moment, so i thought i'd pop in and say hi.i was raised as a jw, started questioning it when i was 16, but there was no internet back then (well, no www anyway) so i got sucked right in and got baptized when i was 18. auxiliary pioneered on and off for a couple of years, then became a ministerial servant.

Maksutov
Doubts came back again, and I stepped down again. Got really depressed and tried very hard to re-convince myself that it was "the truth", without much success. Eventually admitted to myself that I no longer believed, and felt the weight lift off my shoulders - no more depression (I was "cured by Satan" according to my dad). Stopped going to meetings in 2010, and started reading apostate stuff. Now I'm a sceptic, atheist, humanist, human being.Welcome, Russ! Nice to see you over here! It's amazing how lifelong depression can lift once we accept what we truly believe and act on it!
I like your description of yourself. The Borg strips many of their humanity, turning them into corporate drones. The kind-hearted ones seem to escape. I think with you as a Dad, your daughter will be just fine. Once I finally woke up, both of my kids told me that they knew everything I had ever done was out of love. Your daughter knows that too.
